What’s not to like about camping, The fresh air, nature… on and on. When you combine Camping and off-roading, it’s a match made in heaven, as many of you already know.
Camping on the atv / utv trail systems of the united states is one of the best ways to enjoy all aspects of being in nature. The campground of your choosing, is your weekend home-base, and your OHV, is your chariot to the forests and meadows to explore.
So, being able to ride your OHV from your campsite, as opposed to trailering in to a trailhead, is a great benefit. Just one less thing you have to do, while your suppose to be relaxing and riding!
Another great feature of OHV trail accessible campgrounds is the space compared to Off-road Park campgrounds. The trail system campgrounds are usually offer fairly large sites and separated by trees, so you have plenty of room to spread out amongst your site.

Off-road Park campgrounds are usually very condensed and offer very little room on either side of your rvs for such things as awnings or picnic tables.
The OHV trail accessible campgrounds are the way to go as far as i’m concerned. It’s just a better experience for campers... In my experience.
Then there is the trails aspect of things, To be able to ride out of the campground and find your own path to the towns and areas you want to ride to, is an amazing sense of freedom, something that was not always the case in the OHV community.
Now, it may seem I’m bashing OHV Parks, but I’m not, because i will do an article about why OHV parks are great in their own aspects, but as far as I’m concerned, OHV trails are the way to go if you want a true Camping, “Back to nature” type experience.
Another great feature is the price, Usually the county & state parks and US Forestry campgrounds are far cheaper than your typical Off-road parks. I get it, they are a business and have to make money. I’m just saying from a money stand point, the atv / utv accessible campgrounds rack up another win on this side. Now, on the other side, You may not have access to facilities needed, like showers. Most do have some kind of toilet though.
Then there is dispersed camping, which is a whole different article, because it’s so different! That’s a whole other level of what we’re talking about here! So we’ll leave that for another time.
