Houghton to Calumet…
This trip began in Houghton, near the Ramada Inn, we unloaded and headed out on the main trail north toward Calumet. You really are not allowed to ride around in Houghton, nor would you want to, it’s very busy. Trail from Houghton to Calumet, Our first stop, was fantasic! Beautiful Trail! Not wide enough though.
The whole trail has been raised, I’m assuming the area floods on occasion from the looks of it. You can see the raised trail in the video below…
Here we are in Calumet, Check out video. A little confusing, very little signage. We stopped at the Michigan House Cafe (Website Link) Very good food. Would recommend for your stop for lunch!
Pressing on from Calumet, Heading towards Copper Harbor. The trails seem to widen out, just all around better. Less traffic until you get closer to Copper Harbor, Seems that’s where everyone hangs out.
When you get to the trails around Copper Harbor, you understand why everyone is at the northern portion of Keweenaw County. It is such a beautiful area and Copper Harbor itself is a gem!
Just south of town is Brockway Mountain, you can ride up to the top and enjoy 360 degree views of Lake Superior and the surrounding area. This should be a destination for your trip in the area. It's unique for the area for sure! There are several other towns along the way you cane stop at for food or s rest. Anyone of these towns are great due to being on Lake Superior.
