With so many counties in Wisconsin having atv trails, it’s sometimes hard to firgure out your next trip. Now that we’re coming into spring, It’s time to start planning for your first spring trip! Just because it’s warm on a given weekend, doesn’t mean you can just go ride, Unless the trail does not shut down. There are a few state trails that stay open most of the time, except in emergencies, such as Buffalo River State Trail and others.
So, how do we go about finding when our destination’s trails are open?
9 times out of 10, The County Government website of your destination has A Forestry & Parks Dept.( i.e. Jackson County Forestry Dept.), That Division of Government oversees atv restrictions, In most cases, in that county. Now the WI DNR has a lot to say about things as well, But mainly you can visit the County Forestry & parks website to get updates from all parties.
Some club websites maintain trail conditions as well, Like the Osseo area Dusty Riders Club
Another Organization is the Wisconsin DNR for State trails in particular, They will have condition updates on their website.
So there are a lot of resources, just remember to find out before you go!
