Sibley Lake Campground, Burgess Junction, WY

Sibley Lake Camground was another one on my list for a long time. This campground is located right on US Hwy 14 in the Bighorn Mountains and it is a gem! For what it lacks in facilities (Only Vault Toilets) It more that makes up for in beauty and location!

The sites are sprawling, huge. I stayed at campsite #25 which was a first come, first served site, meaning no advanced reservations accepted, I got lucky to find this open! This site did have Electricity hookups, no water. This campground kinda has me re-thinking my whole ingrained notion that commercialized campgrounds are the way to go, there not any more in my opinion. This was such an eye opening experience because I had never stayed in a National Forest campground before.

The campground is located close to Burgess Junction, A small town in the Mountains with a few resorts and restaurants if you need those amenities. I can not say enough about this campground and it's location, absolutely incredible.

Sibley Lake is epic, absolutely the best spot i've stayed at while ohving! The lake is pristine, everything you'd expect from a mountain lake. No boating allowed, only Kayaks. There is a boat launch and a fishing area. I found this to be the most relaxing spot, pictured above.

Be mindful, there are people everywhere dispersed camping, take it slow.

The Bighorn National Forest Trails are incredible, If you ever get the chance, Its worth the drive! These trail meander throughout the park and some trails do go down to surrounding communities. There is fuel stations and food in various places in the park.

The Scenery...

It does not get much better than the mountains of Wyoming, Absolutely incredible. The drive from Dayton to Sibley Lake is eye-opening with about a 7% grade up, something i'm not used to, being from Wisconsin. It is definitely do-able though, just take your time and you'll be rewarded with nature's beauty at it's finest!

Lots of pullouts along the way to learn about the area and collect your nerves!
